In nowadays TAGUTI molybdenum wire is well known in native market. Even so many clients from other countries are attracted to purchase for their enterprise by TAGUTI’s reputation. Cool drawn molybdenum wire has obvious advantages, like broken wire rate has been decreased; using cost has been reduced. Usually molybdenum wire of the same specification (0.18mm), tensile strength of other brands is between 5.0kg and 5.2kg, TAGUTI molybdenum wire is between 5.8kg and 6.0kg, has increased 15%. Molybdenum is a kind of refractory metal, its melting point is up to 2610℃. It keeps body centered cubic crystal structure between room temperature and melting point. Molybdenum and molybdenum alloys are usually used to produce missile, engine, nuclear reactor etc. Because of its thermal stability, high thermal conductivity. Also molybdenum has extreme high modulus of elasticity, its coefficient of expansion is from about one third to a half of general steel products. Molybdenum does not react either acid or base at room temperature, it has excellent corrosion resistance. And density of molybdenum is low, it has high specific strength(strength/density). Molybdenum keeps structure while melting glasses, it has almost the same coefficient of expansion due to heat with glasses, so it can be used as reinforcing fiber material for mass metal glass. As reinforcing fiber material, people always pays close attention to molybdenum’s mechanical behavior under dynamic load or static load, but there are few reports about standards of mechanical property of pure molybdenum wire. Tensile strength and breaking strength of molybdenum wire concern diameter of wire. Though the diameter is shorter, the tensile and breaking strength is lower, generally there is no apparent effect of demension. And molybdenum wires of all diameters are broken down easily after plastic yielding. It means molybdenum has very poor plasticity. That makes it harder to manufacture molybdenum wire into different specifications. Not to mention the cool drawn technology. It requires more attention in production. To ensure molybdenum wire itself’s high ductility and tensile strength, TAGUTI has abandoned hot drawn technology. Because during heating process, molybdenum’s molecular structure has been changed more or less. TAGUTI’ goal is to keep the raw material’s features as we can. So that TAGUTI cool drawn molybdenum wire has been developed. As production has developed, at present it becomes our best seller in high speed EDM market.

According to technical research of TAGUTI Development and Research Department, there is 99.77% Molybdenum contents contained in TAGUTI molybdenum wire. So there is few affects in side of fragility. Molybdenum has cubic body centered crystal structure. The influence to plasticity of crystal type maily depends on numbers of crystal slip system. Though slip system of cubic body centered metal is not enough, anisotropy of it is extreme great. Meanwhile, cubic body centered metal owns looser structure than face centered cubic one. Especially transition metal, there often appears electron vacancy because electronic shell is not equally distributed. Atoms bond together directionally. The resistance of dislocation movement is high. Therefore, comparing with face centered cubic metal, cubic body centered metal has more fragility. Besides, there are carbon atom and nitrogen atom in molybdenum wire. These kinds of tiny atoms exist in the interstitial site of cubic body centered metal. The crystal structure has become aberrated asymmetrically. So that fragility of molybdenum wire has been increased more. There is another reason that causes brittle rupture of molybdenum wire, polycrystalline material has less plasticity than monocrystal molybdenum. And grain boundary strength of polycrystalline molybdenum is very poor.
The fatigue performance of molybdenum wire has an obvious bearing on different dimensions. As the diameter of molybdenum wire is getting smaller, the limit of fatigue performance of material is progressively reduced. On the condition of the same fatigue life, the less molybdenum wire’s diameter, the lower the fatigue strength.
After introduce of these studies, you can notice difficulty in molybdenum wire production. Especially during cold drawn technology, actually it’s not an economic way for manufacturers. Without heating process, molybdenum wire differs from heated one, is not so soft and not so easily to form. To produce thinner molybdenum wire is a big problem. Because once the raw material is broken down, the whole stool of molybdenum wire will be thrown away. Although the initial cost is much higher, after years of study, TAGUTI has developed stably and got benefits from efforts. Then we have exported filtration paper from Japan. The result has not been changed so much. Finally we’ve made a decision to purchase German H&V filtration paper, that is the same as Mann Hummel. That is the best filtration paper ever used. As we know, manufacturers from Korea also export filtration paper from German, but from another famous paper mill. We are preparing to purchase this kind of paper for trial. We never stop in development of TAGUTI EDM filters and consumables.
